Spoonbridge and Cherry measures 30 x 52 x 13 feet (9 m × 15.7 m × 4.1 m) across a small pond built in the shape of linden seeds, reminiscent of the linden trees in the surrounding park. [1] The banks of the pond are covered with irises and reed polyurethane. The sculpture is made of stainless steel and aluminum, and is coated with enamel. The cherry part of the work weighs 1,199 lbs (544 kg), and the spoon part weighs 5,800 lbs (2,630 kg).
The sculpture sprays filtered water from the tips and bases of the cherry stems, the latter being designed to make the cherries sparkle in the light.
